accomplished banking executive and finance professional with over 22 years of
proven record success in strategy, management, collaboration, business
development, entrepreneurship, and Higher Education.
She has noticed the gaps in developing and growing minority owned businesses
throughout her career. It is for these reasons that in 2019, Mrs. Ceesay founded
100 Diaspora Women. This organization aims to increase access to resources and connect to transform our communities.

Global Entrepreneurship Week 2023
Global Entrepreneurship Week celebrates innovators who dream big and launch startups that bring ideas to life. GEW reaches millions of people of all ages and backgrounds to inspire and support their entrepreneurial journey through local, national, and global events and activities. During the third week of November, partners worldwide hold events, workshops, seminars, and competitions to celebrate and support their local entrepreneurs.
On November 17th, 2023, 100 Diaspora women collaborated with the Entrepreneurship Innovation Center and The International Student Association of Bowie State University at the Entrepreneurship Center to host a pitch competition for students. In this collaboration, our 100 Diaspora member Darlene Ajayi, Associate Director at the EIC, and her team facilitated the competition.
Eight student entrepreneurs from the International Student Association pitched their venture ideas and received valuable feedback from the members of the 100 Diaspora women. In addition, each student won a cash prize for their effort. Members Awa Sissoho Njie, Joanne Oport, Jainaba Ceesay, MBallou Kouyate, Darlene Ajayi, and Omega provided cash donations to support the student venturers pitch awards.
Four members of 100 Diaspora Women, Awa Sissoho Njie, Joanne Oport, MBallou Kouyate, and Omega, were the evaluators and provided valuable insight and connections for the students.
Dr. Amina Sillah was the mistress of the ceremony.
Other members, Maimuna Jallow-Hancock and Therese Secka-Mendy were also in attendance.
